Building thriving communities together.

The Seattle Office of Housing is thrilled to announce that we are now accepting proposals for the preservation and new construction of affordable, rental housing in our vibrant city. The release of the 2023 Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to creating thriving and equitable communities.

At the heart of our city’s vision lies the preservation and production of affordable housing. We firmly believe that affordable housing is a foundational element for creating communities where everyone can thrive. The 2023 NOFA represents our dedication to funding projects that address critical issues such as displacement, homelessness, and limited access to opportunity. By supporting these projects, we aim to provide quality, affordable housing for low-income individuals and families, senior citizens, and our hardworking neighbors who struggle to make ends meet despite working full-time or multiple jobs.

To ensure that our funding is allocated effectively with maximum positive impact, the 2023 NOFA will prioritize projects that:

  • Affirmatively further fair housing by delivering new rental homes in communities with high access to opportunities; and/or delivering affordable rental homes as part of an overall strategy for positively impacting community benefit in neighborhoods with a high risk of displacement.
  • Demonstrate readiness and financial feasibility through an implementable development plan and operating proforma.
  • Demonstrate the ability to leverage City of Seattle financing with other public and/or private resources.

Creating affordable housing is not a task that any one entity can accomplish alone. It requires the collective vision, dedication, and collaboration of multiple stakeholders. The City of Seattle understands this responsibility and aims to be your trusted partner in this journey towards a more inclusive and prosperous future. We are committed to working closely with you to overcome challenges, provide support, and ensure the success of your affordable housing projects.

We invite developers and organizations who share our vision for thriving and equitable communities to submit proposals that align with our goals. We look forward to the collaborative efforts that lie ahead in creating a Seattle where everyone has a safe and affordable place to call home.
